Emilia Isobel Euphemia Rose Clarke (born 23 October 1986) is an English actress. Emilia Clarke studied at the Drama Centre London, appearing in a number of stage productions. Emilia Clarke television debut was a guest appearance in the BBC One medical soap opera Doctors in 2009. The following year, Emilia Clarke was named as one of the "UK Stars of Tomorrow" by Screen International magazine for her role in the TV film Triassic Attack (2010). Emilia Clarke had her breakthrough role as Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO epic fantasy television series Game of Thrones (2011–2019). The role garnered her international recognition and several accolades, including four Emmy Award nominations.
British actress Emilia Clarke was born in London and grew up in Oxfordshire, England. Emilia Clarke father was a theatre sound engineer and Emilia Clarke mother is a businesswoman. Emilia Clarke father was working on a theatre production of "Show Boat" and her mother took her along to the performance. This is when, at the age of 3, her passion for acting began. From 2000 to 2005, she attended St. Edward's School of Oxford, where Emilia Clarke appeared in two school plays. She went on to study acting at the prestigious Drama Centre London, where she took part in 10 plays. During this time, Emilia first appeared on television with a guest role in the BBC soap opera Doctors (2000).

In an interview with Allure in 2013, Emilia Clarke said that her mother had rules when she was growing up: "Don't do drugs, don't have sex, and don't touch your eyebrows." Emilia Clarke stated that she was bullied as a child for "having ridiculous eyebrows"
Emilia Clarke tattooed three flying dragons on her right wrist after completing the principal photography for Season 8 of Game of Thrones (2011). Emilia Clarke did this to celebrate her eight year long journey of playing the character of Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones (2011).
